The El Cid Historic District is a high-style waterfront community developed during the 1920′s Florida land boom era. Some of the area’s best architects such as Maurice Fatio, Howard Major and Harvey & Clarke designed and built homes for prominent West Palm Beach families.

The homes are predominantly large and ornate Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Mission homes, with lush landscaping and unique architectural features. Other styles like Monterey, Art Deco and Colonial Revival are also represented. Many homes have original tile, working fireplaces, antique furniture and hardwood floors. Homeowners have carefully restored these original features while making sensitive updates that include the latest modern conveniences. Altogether, these unique characteristics make this Tour one of the premier home tours in West Palm Beach and all of Palm Beach County.

The Historic Home Tour will take place rain or shine. The tour starts at 2 pm at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens where each visitor will receive an official tour booklet and wristband. Visitors can choose their own route to each home. At each home, visitors will be greeted by the owners and volunteers who will guide and answer any questions. All the homes on the tour are within walking distance, but you should wear comfortable shoes. A trolley will also be available. In order to protect the original wood floors in many of these homes, please no high heels or strollers inside. We regret that the venues are not able to accommodate wheelchairs.

The tour will feature 12 historic properties. Many have never been opened to the public before.

As in tours past, complimentary refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, wine and music will be provided at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens from 4 pm-6:30 pm to all paid participants.

Parking is available at Palm Beach Day Academy at 1901 South Flagler Drive and the surface lot at 2100 South Dixie Highway on the southeast corner of Barcelona and Dixie.

Advanced ticket sales online and by phone have now ended.

Tickets will be available for purchase on the day of the tour beginning at 1 PM at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens.
